Since flipping a Republican held seat in 2018, Angie has been laser focused on the issues keeping Minnesotans up at night and has fought to lower the cost of basic needs like: health care, housing, childcare, groceries and education. Angie is the Democrat who took on the drug companies and wrote the bill to cap insulin to $35 for Seniors. Angie voted to block Trump’s tariffs and to take away his unchecked power to impose tariffs with no oversight from Congress. 

People deserve the benefits they’ve paid into their entire lives – Angie wrote the bill to eliminate federal taxes on Social Security benefits for seniors and has fought tooth and nail against cuts to Social Security.

Angie knows it’s long overdue that we implement a tax system that helps the middle class – not the wealthiest among us – and is focused on creating good-paying jobs. As a supporter of the PRO Act and staunch advocate for protecting Minnesota workers, Angie has always stood with labor and will in the Senate. 

Every American deserves to retire with dignity after a lifetime of hard work, and that’s why Angie has and always will oppose efforts to privatize, jeopardize or make cuts to Social Security and Medicare. 

As the granddaughter of a farm foreman who was forced off the farm during the 80s farm crisis, Angie knows what it means for a farmer and their family to lose their way of life. Every day, Angie works to ensure the Minnesota family farmers and producers who feed, clothe and fuel the world have a seat at the table. From writing the bill to allow the year-round sale of E-15; to working across the aisle to pass her bill that would create a White House Office of Rural Prosperity; to voting for $100 million for broadband expansion in Minnesota; to fighting Donald Trump’s cuts to SNAP, Angie has always been committed to investing in Minnesota’s rural communities.
