Supporting Seniors and Strengthening Social Security
My Values
Every American deserves to retire with dignity after a lifetime of hard work, and that’s why I will always oppose legislation that will privatize, jeopardize, or make any cuts to Social Security and Medicare. We must do more to support seniors living on a fixed income and ensure they have access to the support they need – that’s what I’m working to do in Congress.
What I've Done
- I wrote the bill to eliminate federal taxes on Social Security benefits – the You Earned It, You Keep It Act.
- I voted to finally allow Medicare to negotiate for the best prices on many prescription drugs.
- I voted to cap seniors’ drugs costs at $2,000 a year as part of the Inflation Reduction Act.
- When the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced a 14.5% increase in Medicare Part B premiums, I led more than 30 colleagues in the House in opposing this move.
