Craig Statement on Kistner Campaign Funding 3rd Party Candidates

September 9, 2022

Burnsville, MN – Today, following a concerning report from the Minnesota Reformer detailing Kistner campaign direct ties to Legal Marijuana Now candidates in the MN-02 congressional race, Rep. Angie Craig released the following statement.

“The people of Minnesota deserve an honest representative who has their best interests at heart – not one who attempts to buy and cheat their way to victory,” said Rep. Craig. “Media reports detailing Tyler Kistner’s direct payment to Adam Weeks’ campaign manager in 2020 and his behind-the-scenes support for Paula Overby’s campaign in 2022 are incredibly concerning, and Minnesotans need answers immediately.”

This is not the first time Republicans have been accused of boosting third party candidates in order to siphon votes from Democrats. In 2020, the late Legal Marijuana Now candidate Adam Weeks admitted in a voicemail to being recruited by Republicans to “pull votes” from Rep. Craig and increase the chances of a Kistner victory.
