Dakota County, MN –– Today, Dakota County Sheriff Tim Leslie endorsed Rep. Angie Craig for re-election to Congress to represent Minnesota’s 2nd Congressional District.
“A lot of politicians talk about supporting law enforcement and public safety, but Angie shows up for us when it counts, and that’s why I am proud to support her re-election campaign today,” said Dakota County Sheriff Tim Leslie. “Angie checks in regularly to see how Dakota County Law Enforcement is doing and she made a real difference for law enforcement and their families when she helped pass the bill to expand officer benefits after a PTSD diagnosis. Angie has proven herself to be a thoughtful, moderate voice for Dakota County in Congress, and I trust her to continue to get results for us. This is not about one political party or another, this is about who has our backs in Washington. I know Angie does.”

In Congress, Rep. Craig has continually voted to support public safety, fund Minnesota police departments and deliver results.
- Rep. Craig successfully led the public pushback from Minnesota elected officials on the Minneapolis ballot initiative to eliminate the Minneapolis Police Department.
- Rep. Craig is currently supporting Community-Oriented Policing Grants to hire more officers in four South Metro cities.
- Rep. Craig championed passage of the Public Safety Officer Support Act to extend death and disability benefits to officers and survivors of officers who are diagnosed with PTSD or die by suicide because of their job. Rep. Craig helped pass the bill through the House with overwhelming support from Democrats and Republicans.
- Rep. Craig partnered with Katie Slifko, the wife of a South Saint Paul police officer who died by suicide, to move the Public Safety Officer Support Act forward at both the state and federal levels. Rep. Craig shared Cory and Katie Slifko’s story on the Floor of the House of Representatives after the legislation passed.
- Rep. Craig backed the bipartisan Invest to Protect Act to increase funding for small and mid-size police departments, and the bipartisan Pathways to Policing Act to help recruit new officers.
- Rep. Craig assisted local law enforcement in applying for and receiving federal grant funding for body cameras and other equipment.
