Farmers Union PAC Endorses Angie Craig in Minnesota Second Congressional District

Today the National Farmers Union PAC endorsed U.S. Representative Angie Craig’s campaign for re-election in Minnesota’s Second Congressional District. The Farmers Union in Minnesota is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the economic interests of family farmers, ranchers and rural residents all across the state. As a member of the bipartisan Agriculture Committee, Angie has worked to ensure that the voices of family farmers in the Second District are heard and the interests of rural America are represented in Washington.

The Farmers Union endorsement follows Craig’s appearance at the 2020 Candidate Forum at Farmfest, where she demonstrated her unwavering commitment to work with family farmers on the issues facing rural America and earnest understanding of the challenges facing producers in Minnesota and across the country.

“In Congress, Angie has been a strong and tireless voice for Minnesota’s farmers on the Agriculture Committee, where she’s fought to build a strong farm safety net, expand markets overseas for ag products and make sure that Minnesota farmers have a fair shot to earn a living, even in these uncertain times,” said Gary Wertish, President of the Minnesota Farmers Union. “The National Farmers Union PAC is proud to support Angie because she understands the importance of bringing rural voices to the table in Washington, and we know she’ll never stop advocating on our behalf in Congress.”

“I grew up watching my grandfather farm until the farm crisis of the 1980s cost him his job, so I’ve known from a young age the importance of getting farmers the support they need during uncertain economic times,” said Rep. Craig. “And when I got to Congress, my first priority was getting a seat on the Agriculture Committee – one of the last truly bipartisan committees in Washington where I could set politics aside and put farmers first. That’s why I’m so honored to have the endorsement of the Farmers Union and the support of hardworking Minnesotans from all across the district in November.”

With the support of her bi-partisan Farm Advisory Council, which Angie formed to serve as her experts on issues facing Minnesota Agriculture, she has been a tireless advocate for farmers in Minnesota and rural communities across the country. She helped finalize the USMCA trade agreement which bolsters the ag economy, supports family farmers, protects American workers and improves access to affordable prescription drugs for all Americans. She also fought to include farm goods in trade negotiations with the European Union and pressed leadership to prioritize the implementation of dairy programs in the 2018 Farm Bill. Her efforts to protect the renewable fuel standard and expand the market for biofuels even earned her the “Fueling Growth Award” last fall. And Angie has fought to ensure farmers had the resources they need to get through the COVID-19 pandemic. Angie cosponsored bills to help farmers restructure their debt, give farmers and ranchers emergency flexibility to help alleviate feed concerns and fought to steer relief funds to farmers and rural businesses struggling to rebuild from the ongoing crisis.
