BURNSVILLE, MN — U.S. Representative Angie Craig announced that she requested $3 million for the Highway 13 and Nicollet Avenue Mobility Improvement Project in Burnsville in 2023.

The request was through the Community Project Funding Fiscal Year 2023 Appropriations process, where Congress members can request funds for 15 projects in their district that would benefit public good, Craig said.

“I’m proud to announce my submission for the City of Burnsville to receive federal support for this important project,” Craig said. “These funds will help re-design the intersection of Highway 13 and Nicollet Avenue to increase its safety and efficiency – greatly improving one of the most important transit points in Dakota County.”

The project includes separating Minnesota Highway 13 and Nicollet Avenue, reducing delays and improving safety, Craig said.

“As Mayor of Burnsville, safety is always at the top of my mind,” Burnsville Mayor Elizabeth Kautz said. “The $3 million dollars included in this community project funding will help redesign the ever-busy intersection of Highway 13 & Nicollet Avenue, making it safer for the many pedestrians, bicyclists and drivers who pass through it daily. It was great working with Representative Angie Craig to secure these critical funds for our city.”
