Citing her Record of Accomplishments for Minnesotans, Local Elected Officials Endorse Angie Craig

16 elected officials – from Shakopee to Northfield to Hastings – line up behind Craig’s campaign, demonstrating her strong support throughout the Second Congressional District

Today, 16 members of the Minnesota Democratic Farmer Labor Party – including every single member of the DFL caucus representing Minnesotans in the Second Congressional District – endorsed Angie Craig’s re-election campaign. Citing her record of bipartisan achievement and commitment to creating stronger communities and an economy that works for every Minnesotan, members of the Minnesota Senate and House of Representatives offered their support to Craig’s campaign this November.

“Like the rest of my DFL colleagues in the Second Congressional District, I’m fighting each and every day to enact policies that will improve the lives of folks living in our communities,” said Craig. “I’m deeply honored to have the support of Minnesotans throughout the Second District and thrilled to welcome the entire DFL caucus to my team as we march toward victory in November. Together, we will continue to build an even better Minnesota for all of us.”

Craig received endorsements from all five of the DFL Senators serving in Minnesota’s Second Congressional District, including her own Senator, Jim Carlson.

“When the Mississippi River flooded and threatened neighborhoods in Hastings, Angie Craig was one of the first people filling up sandbags to protect our community,” said Sen. Karla Bigham (District 54). “Ever since that day, I’ve always known that Angie would be there for us when we needed her most. Whether it’s fighting to bring down the cost of health care, working with both parties to support family farmers, or working to build an economy that works for every Minnesotan, we can rest easy knowing that Angie’s representing us in Washington. I couldn’t be prouder to endorse her.”

“I’ve been proud to serve as Angie’s representative for the past six years, and even prouder to have her representing me and my family in Congress,” said Sen. Jim Carlson (District 51). “Now more than ever, our state needs Angie’s leadership, vision and determination to continue the fight for working families in Washington. I’m happy to be on Angie’s team, because she’s always been on ours – and I know she’ll continue fighting for Minnesota as long as she represents us.”

“As a lifetime educator, I know how important it is for Minnesotans to be represented by public servants who understand the value of a good education,” said Sen. Greg Clausen (District 57). “Like myself, Angie believes that every child in this country deserves an opportunity to learn and grow – no matter who they are or where they live. And she won’t stop fighting until that belief is a reality. I’m thrilled to be on Angie’s team this year and will do whatever it takes to make sure she’s re-elected in November.”

“After working as a medical doctor for more than two decades, I’ve seen firsthand how much work remains to be done to create a health care system that looks out for every American,” said Sen. Matt Klein (District 52). “But with Angie representing us, I’m more confident than ever that real progress is possible. Nobody is more driven, engaged, or focused on making health care more accessible and more affordable than Angie is – and that’s why I’m so thrilled to be endorsing her.”

“Angie is one of the few people in Congress who understands the value of working with members of both parties to get things done,” said Sen. Matt Little (District 58). “She doesn’t get sucked into partisan politics or distracted by all the partisan bickering in Washington. She just gets the job done. She’s an old school representative – and we need more people like her in Congress. I’m proud to endorse Angie, because I know she’ll always get the job done for Minnesota, no matter what it takes.”

Craig also received the backing of all eleven of the DFL’s House Members representing districts in Minnesota’s Second Congressional District, including her own Representative, Sandra Masin.

“Right now, Minnesotans need a fighter who will stand up to special interests and fight for affordable, high-quality healthcare for everyone,” said Rep. Robert Bierman (District 57A). “We are lucky to have that fighter in Angie Craig, whose leadership on lowering the cost of prescriptions and expanding access to health insurance is unparalleled. That’s why I’m excited to endorse Congresswoman Angie Craig, so she can keep delivering bipartisan solutions for Minnesota’s Second District.”

“Angie Craig exemplifies thoughtful, dedicated and people-centered public service. She always puts our community first and she doesn’t back down from fighting the special interest groups that seek to undermine our quality of life,” said Rep. Hunter Cantrell (District 56A). “I am proud to endorse Congresswoman Angie Craig as she continues to work hard for all Minnesotans.”

“As a member of the state legislature, I appreciate Angie’s willingness to roll up her sleeves and get the job done – no matter what it takes. And as her constituent, I applaud the unparalleled level of service that Angie Craig and her staff provide to our district day in and day out,” said Rep. Anne Claflin (District 54A). “Even during the pandemic, Angie’s hosted a public town hall every single month, so she can hear from her constituents when we need her the most. That level of commitment to accessibility is a rare trait, and it’s why I’m proud to endorse Congresswoman Angie Craig for re-election this November.”

“Above all else, Minnesotans need representatives in Washington who we can rely on to get the job done. Fortunately for us, that’s exactly what Congresswoman Angie Craig has done,” said Rep. Laurie Halverson (District 51B). “Over the past two years, Angie has gotten two bills signed into law by the President – an almost unheard-of feat for a freshman member of Congress. I’m endorsing Congresswoman Angie Craig because she knows that results matter, and I know she will keep on delivering solutions for all Minnesotans in her second term.”

“The virus has changed how we do our work. Angie Craig has helped our communities and our small businesses respond and adapt to this unprecedented challenge,” said Rep. Rick Hansen (District 52A). “Innovation, adaptation and leadership are what Angie Craig brings to Congress; and those problem-solving skills are needed now more than ever. I am proud to endorse Angie Craig to keep working for us.”

“As a husband and father of three kids, I know that access to a good, high-quality education opens a world of possibility for our children. And in Congress, Angie is fighting every day to make strong, public education a reality for every child in the Second Congressional District,” said Rep. John Huot (District 57B). “She’s also done tremendous work to expand career and technical opportunities for our students so they can get the skills they need to be successful in today’s competitive job market. I’m endorsing Congresswoman Angie Craig because I know she’ll never stop fighting for Minnesotan parents, teachers and students.”

“Angie Craig knows that the only way to lead is first to listen, and her record shows that she is an active, enthusiastic listener for the hard-working people of the Second District,” said Rep. Todd Lippert (District 20B). “From her leadership on expanding healthcare coverage to her tireless advocacy for a brighter, greener future for our grandchildren, I know that Angie Craig is fighting for Minnesotans like you and me, and that’s why I am proud to endorse Congresswoman Angie Craig.”

“Angie Craig is a leader on the issues Minnesotans really care about. Whether it’s lowering the cost of prescription drugs, fixing our roads and bridges, or supporting the family farmers that feed America, Angie Craig has proven she’ll always put the needs of Minnesotans first,” said Rep. Alice Mann (District 56B). “I’m proud to endorse Congresswoman Angie Craig because I know she’ll never stop fighting for our state.”

“As our Representative in Congress, Angie Craig has done an incredible job of reaching out to our local communities through her monthly town halls, meetings with constituents – and visits to Main Streets across our districts,” said Rep. Sandra Masin (District 51A). “Angie is a smart, energetic and empathetic leader in Congress – and she’s truly a part of our communities here in the Second District. I’m proud to endorse Angie – because I know that she’ll always be there for the people of Minnesota.”

“I’m standing with Angie Craig because she’s committed to working with community to make sure our district is a place where everyone has the opportunity to thrive,” said Rep. Ruth Richardson (District 52B). “From making sure small businesses have access to needed loans to working to expand access to career and technical education, she has proven herself to be the voice we need in Congress at this moment.”

“Since being sworn in, Angie Craig has hosted a town hall every single month she’s been in Congress, allowing her to stay in touch with the needs and concerns of everyday Minnesotans,” said Rep. Brad Tabke (District 55A). “Every month, Angie sits down with her constituents and really listens to what they have to say. Her level of consistent accessibility and accountability is exceedingly rare in today’s world, which is why I’m proud to endorse Angie Craig.”
