As Craig Racks Up Law Enforcement Endorsements Across MN-02, Kistner is Forced to Go Out of District for His

Burnsville, MN – Tyler Kistner has not managed to secure a single in-district police endorsement this cycle.

Kistner touts the support of the Police Officers Federation of Minneapolis. The problem is that Minneapolis is not a part of the Second District. In fact, Angie Craig is the only candidate endorsed by police associations actually representing officers in the Second District.

Last month, the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association – the largest law enforcement association representing rank and file officers in the state of Minnesota – proudly endorsed Rep. Craig after having endorsed Tyler Kistner in 2020. Rep. Craig has also been endorsed by retired Hastings Police Chief Bryan Schafer.

In a rare public endorsement, Dakota County Sheriff Tim Leslie praised Rep. Craig’s efforts to secure additional funding for local police departments to address staffing shortages and engage in community policing efforts. He also pointed to Rep. Craig’s record of standing up to her own party on behalf of Minnesota law enforcement. Dakota County is home to more than 60% of the voters in MN-02.

In Congress, Rep. Craig has consistently voted to support public safety, fund Minnesota police departments and deliver results. In Congress, Rep. Craig:

  • Was the first member of the Minnesota Congressional Delegation to oppose the ballot initiative to dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department.
  • Secured $750,000 in Community-Oriented Policing grant funding to hire more officers in South St. Paul and West St. Paul.
  • Got her bipartisan Public Safety Officer Support Act signed into law to expand support for officers facing mental health struggles and help their families access their benefits.
  • Passed the bipartisan Invest to Protect Act to increase funding for small and mid-sized police departments.
